My triumphant return to the lovely world of sports betting saw me place just a single bet, but it was a winner, in large part due to my ability to stick with what I know best- hockey. Here are my up to date stats:

Betting Stats:

NBA: 4-5 (down $136)

NHL: 13-8 (up $758)

MLB: 3-6 (down $273)

NCAA Basketball: 1-0 (up $165)

Golf: 0-1 (down $25)

Parlay 1-2 (down $58)

Horse Racing: 0-2 (down $60)

I took a few days off to ensure that when I gave my next bets, I was leading my loyal readers to sure-fire winners (hopefully). I like the board a lot today so enjoy not one, not two, but three hockey bets.

Today’s Bet: NHL

Nashville Predators -1.5  (on the road against Edmonton Oilers)

Bet $100, win $205

REASONING:

I won’t say this is my favourite bet of the night, but I certainly like the value here. With my last bet I wrote about how I like Nashville because they are a streaky team, Right now, they’re in the middle of a three game win streak. That’s their fifth time this year with a streak at least that long. There is a chance, though, that it’s Edmonton who’s about to get hot as they’ve won two in a row. However, the last time they won two in a row and made people think they were going to go on a run ended in disaster, as they went on to lose seven straight. We don’t need seven straight losses here, just one, and by two goals please.

Anaheim Ducks -1.5  (on the the road against Montreal Canadiens)

Bet $100, win $175

REASONING:

The Montreal Canadiens absolutely suck, so that makes for a good reason. If you’re hot, you want to play them to stay hot. If you’re cold, you want to play them to get hot. They’re the worst team in hockey, on pace for 16 wins this season! It’s not as if they’re good at home either, sitting at just 5-10-1. If you’re why this seems like good value betting on the Ducks, it’s because they played last night. That’s usually a turn off for me when it comes to betting, but I like the fact that they lost a close one and will be coming out hard to avoid starting a losing streak. They’ve played well, too, with recent wins against both Boston and Tampa Bay.

New York Rangers -1.5  (on the the road against Columbus Blue Jackets)

Bet $100, win $130

REASONING:

The Rangers are hot, winners of five of their last six. Columbus is not, losers of three straight, all at home. Rangers are fresh, too, as they’ve been off since Monday, while Columbus just got smacked around last night, losing 6-0 to the Flames. The Rangers also have the most road wins in the league this season with 15. I also think we’re about to see a fun second half in the Metropolitan as the battle for first place in the division gets going. If the Rangers want that spot, wins against weak teams like Columbus are a must.
