So Tony Finau couldn’t quite get it done. Golf is fun to bet on but so tough to get it right. I’m happy I didn’t go with a full $100 bet- always gamble responsibly, folks! I’ve taken a few days off, waiting for the right opportunity to jump back in. Today is that day!
Today’s Bets- MLB:
San Diego Padres -1.5 (on the road against Pittsburgh Pirates)
Bet $100, win $80
REASONING:
Most people had the Padres winning 90+ games this season and the Pirates winning less than 65. Tonight, the Padres have Mr. No-Hitter, Joe Musgrave on the mound, pitching against his former team. The Pirates have Tyler Anderson, who’s on his 3rd team in 3 years and has been fairly mediocre to start the year with an ERA over 5 in two starts. The two teams split the first two games. There’s no way the Padres lose this series, right?
Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (on the road against New York Mets)
Bet $100, win $140
Reasoning:
This one comes down to the pitching matchup. The Phillies are starting Zack Wheeler. He pitched great against his former team last season, going at least 6 innings and giving up 3 runs or less in all 3 starts. The Mets are starting David Peterson. He’s struggled against the Phillies. His one start this year was against them, where he gave up 6 runs, and 2 homeruns, in 4 innings. Last season, he gave up 5 runs in just 2 innings against them, in what was his worst outing of the season.
NHL:
Winnipeg Jets -1.5 (on the road against Ottawa Senators)
Bet $100, win $145
REASONING:
I am once again betting on a good team to beat the team that just beat them in a back to back. There is some risk here, as Ottawa is much better playing at home and actually looked good in Monday’s matchup as they’ve moved on from some of their slower veterans at the deadline. Inevitably, they’re battling to finish either 2nd, 3rd, or 4th last in the league, though, while Winnipeg is still trying to win their division or at the very least, secure home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs. Expect the Jets to come out hard in this one.
